The shape of the stone makes strength towards the outside (2023- ongoing)

In this project I investigate through a practical example the idea of landscape as a space in which a culture is projected. Through the prehistoric petroglyphs found in the stones of the Mountain do Facho, in my mother’s village, I try to approach the topic of the Celtic in Galician nationalism.

Historically it has been used to try to create a combative identity, with all the good and bad that this entails. However, a minoritized culture like ours tends to feed back on images that are given to it from the outside, as it is happening lately with this topic. That is maybe why I had not heard until recently, anything about these petroglyphs as a Celtic past and I had just recognized the stones by their shape instead. There is a tension here that I seek to reflect by fragmenting concrete parts, previously scanned, of these stones; altering and removing their drawings, remaining only with the form in which they were carved
